THE MAGMA

I am a slow cooled magma
 that has hardened in layers.
With hard and colorful gems
 near the surface,
 and valuable ores at depth.
Yet the largest part of me 
 lies inbetween,
 and only the few who understand
 seek these minerals.
While the flashy and the rare,
 the fragile and the valuable
 are my ends.
That which lasts and is the core
 and the foundation of all else
 lies within.
And most only avoid it 
 or throw it away
 in the rush for the rest.
