I see life not as seperate steps but as a flowing river 10,000 miles long with source and mouth and length in view. People appear both 8 and 80 even when they're only 17. And single stones can tell me stories of the ages older and greater than any told by man. end [20:01] * Shadow-Dancer applauds thoughtfully [20:02] * Ma`khiir hugs DH in lieu of applause. [20:02] Look forward to seeing that one in the book, DH! [20:02] * Havoc_TR applauds! [20:02] * Snarlgard applauds I'm looking forward to seeing the illustration for it too :> [20:02] Has one been offered for it? I forget who but one of our afd regulars is illustrating all three of my poems last I heaerd [20:03] * Solitaire nods. [20:03] I wonder who is doing the illustrations for my 2. [20:03] * Shadow-Dancer wonders in a similar vein you might check the websitre for it off the afd homepage [20:04] * Solitaire nods. ok our next poem is called Sky Dancer and is by our irrepressible poetraptor HTR [20:04] Which, oddly enough, is also going to be in the AFD poetry book.. [20:04] If and when... :) ROTFL [20:05] Sky Dancer [20:05] . [20:05] Boundless sky and tireless wing [20:05] Laughing high, embrace the cloud [20:05] Dance free with eternity [20:05] And never worry that below [20:05] Where you can't see, a watcher stands [20:05] And in his eye a tear. [20:05] He would not have you crawl with him. [20:05] He would not put tears in your eye. [20:05] Perhaps he loves so very much [20:05] Because your worlds can never touch. [20:05] So dance the sky and be yourself. [20:05] He draws his hope from what you are [20:05] Although he's trudging through the mud [20:05] His path is lighted by a star. [20:05] . [20:05] end [20:05] Excellent! great one Havoc :> [20:05] Bravo, Havoc! [20:05] * Snarlgard applauds very very good [20:05] :applauds, and smiles. [20:06] * Ma`khiir chortles at his goof-up. [20:07] * Solitaire sees gil in disguise and huggles her! ok up next is M`khiir welcome hun M1khiir is doing his poem called Questions * Dragonheart calls M1khiir to the podium [20:08] * Ma`khiir bows, and walks up to the podium, feeling moderately self-concious. [20:08] This poem was written a while ago...and I am half-asleep, so please, forgive my typoes. [20:09] In the final ending, [20:09] Will my heart still ponder, [20:09] on that great beginning, [20:09] as it did, before. [20:09] When the hours are gone from me, [20:09] called unto their homes to rest, [20:09] Will I know the reason [20:09] I was made and born? [20:10] When in twilit sunsets, [20:10] hours go unto their doom, [20:10] and in solemn moonrise, [20:10] call me on their way, [20:10] Shall I know the faded rose, [20:10] that men call their empty life? [20:11] Shall I touch the rainbows, [20:11] that burn inside my soul? [20:11] Twilit hours fill me, [20:11] Marching on, from day to day, [20:11] taking all my heartache [20:11] My laughter and my tears. [20:12] Shall I touch the song of morn, [20:12] like Sappho's singing in the eve? [20:12] Shall I ever hope for, [20:12] A newness in my heart? [20:12] Like the phoenix rising, [20:12] will I be reborn again, [20:12] Like the ashes stirring [20:13] on some zephyr's touch? [20:13] Will I with my heart be bourne, [20:13] unto places I have lost? [20:13] Will I know the answers [20:14] To the questions of my heart? [20:14] =====end===== [20:14] * Havoc_TR applauds.. I like this very much. [20:14] * Solitaire applaudes. "Bravo!" [20:14] * Gilraen2 applauds [20:14] Bravo!!! [20:14] * Snarlgard applauds [20:15] * Ma`khiir waves... and fears he must go. *sigh* [20:15] Bye, Ma`khiir. And thanks! [20:15] Take care,Ma'khiir aloha Ma`khiir - great poem :> [20:15] bye ma`khiir [20:16] *** Ma`khiir has quit IRC (Thank you, my friends. And care is taken by those who care.) [20:16] bye Ma`khiir our 4th poet tonight is Snargard with the first of three poems:> his first is called Quiet * Dragonheart calls Snarl to thestage [20:17] * Snarlgard nods [20:17] Quiet do I seek [20:17] I sit in silence [20:17] My world wrapped in solitude [20:17] Waiting ever waiting [20:17] I close my eye's [20:17] Straining to hear [20:17] Sounds roll around me [20:17] laughter, giggles, shouts of joy [20:17] A babies cry [20:17] A sniffling sob for a boo boo [20:17] Kissy noises to make it all better [20:17] Whispered words of love in the still night [20:17] Quiet do I seek [20:17] Silence do I look for [20:17] So I can hear again [20:17] End [20:18] * Snarlgard slips back to his quiet spot [20:18] * Gilraen2 applauds [20:18] * Havoc_TR applauds [20:18] sad.. [20:18] * Solitaire mutters about sudden lag... very nice snarl :> I like those moments of peace and quiet too :> don't get many but I like them :> [20:19] Very good Snarl... touching. [20:19] * Snarlgard nods, thank you and up next is another of our irrepresable poets - Shadow-DAncer [20:20] * Shadow-Dancer somewhat hesitantly makes his way to the podium his new poem is called: With age comes wisdom [20:20] With Age, Comes Wisdom? [20:21] . [20:21] I look at the clouds, [20:21] And wonder where the castles have gone? [20:21] Where are the walls, [20:21] The battlements, [20:21] The ramparts of gray and white? [20:21] They were there when I was young. [20:21] . [20:21] I look at the night, [20:21] And wonder where the monsters have gone? [20:21] Where are the trolls, [20:21] The Bogey-men, [20:21] The creatures that gave me fright? [20:21] They were there when I was young. [20:21] . [20:21] I look at my life, [20:21] And wonder where the magic has gone? [20:21] Where are the dreams, [20:21] The Fantasies, [20:21] The wonder that made life bright? [20:21] It was there when I was young. [20:21] . [20:21] I look at my soul, [20:21] And wonder where the vigor has gone? [20:21] Where are the drives, [20:21] The energy, [20:21] The things that gave me might? [20:21] They were there when I was young. [20:21] . [20:21] I have sought wisdom, [20:21] Must its price be the death of my dreams? [20:21] Must I starve my soul? [20:21] Must I choose? [20:21] Or can I walk both roads? [20:22] Can I be both wise and young? [20:22] . [20:22] --end [20:22] * Shadow-Dancer pulls his patented fast-fade back to the bar.... [20:22] * Gilraen2 applauds [20:22] SD.... Tis another excellent one... Very good. [20:22] * Havoc_TR applauds. :) [20:22] * Snarlgard applauds very good * Dragonheart does his pantented fast fade grab [20:23] AAK! [20:23] I think you can, Shadow-Dancer. Isn't wisdom at least in part not being afraid to seem silly? To still have dreams? :) I think you can SD - great job :> [20:23] * Shadow-Dancer blushes...Thank you all [20:24] I *still think the last stanza is weak.. [20:24] * Shadow-Dancer goes back to his notepad and so up next with another of her horde of untitled poems (how do you keep them straight hun?) is Gilraen * Dragonheart calls Gilraen to the stage [20:25] Trembling the maiden stood [20:25] at the mouth of a dark cave. [20:25] something drew her onwards [20:25] though her parents forbade [20:25] . [20:25] The mountain is forbidden [20:25] and none may go that way [20:25] When the maiden question why [20:25] she was told it had always been that way [20:25] . [20:25] Slowly she stepped forward [20:26] her gown whispered across the stones [20:26] Searching she went onward [20:26] . [20:26] Water trickling softly [20:26] was one of her guides [20:26] As was the faint glow [20:26] along the caverns sides [20:26] . [20:26] The path wound downward [20:26] deep into the mountains side [20:26] never did her steps falter [20:26] as she thought of what she might find [20:26] A hidden force drew her downward [20:26] she knew not why [20:26] . [20:26] The path ended suddenly [20:26] at a cavern deep and wide [20:26] The soft little trickle was [20:26] now a pounding roar [20:26] for there in the center [20:26] was a lake fed by a waterfall [20:26] Crystalline formations were scattered [20:26] across the ceiling and floor [20:26] . [20:26] Moved by the beauty around her [20:26] The maiden began to sing [20:26] unnoticed by the maid [20:27] In the center of the lake [20:27] a small ripple could be seen [20:27] From the ripple there arose a man tall and strong [20:27] his hair was a brilliant shade of blonde [20:27] . [20:27] He called to the maiden [20:27] she heard his voice in her mind [20:27] in surprise she turned to gaze in awe [20:27] . [20:27] Before her eyes stood a man of legend [20:27] that not many had seen [20:27] The maiden curtseyed low [20:27] I should not have come [20:27] the mountain is forbidden to all [20:27] forgive me I did not mean to intrude [20:27] once said the maiden turned to go [20:27] . [20:27] The man drew closer to the shore [20:27] he asked her not to go [20:27] and with a magical glow [20:27] he stepped upon the shore [20:27] He took a step towards her [20:27] holding out his hand [20:27] . [20:27] You did not intrude he said [20:27] Long have I waited for the day [20:27] you would come to me and finally understand [20:28] You were meant to be my love since before time began [20:28] I was granted a vision of you long ago [20:28] And have searched high and low [20:28] . [20:28] blushing softly the maiden took his outstretched hand [20:28] He led her towards a wall were he had inscribe [20:28] his search just as he had described [20:28] . [20:28] The mountain is forbidden he said [20:28] for your parents feared [20:28] The promise that your grandfather held dear [20:28] . [20:28] I helped your grandfather many times [20:28] protect his home and lands [20:28] through years of war, famine and flood [20:28] . [20:28] He promised if ever there was a maid [20:28] born with a certain mark [20:28] that she would be sent to my cave as soon [20:28] as she came of age. [20:28] For an oracle foretold that my love [20:28] would bear a mark upon her hand [20:28] . [20:28] Is this real or only a dream [20:28] The maiden turned away [20:28] unsure of what she had heard and seen [20:28] . [20:28] He watched her turn with sadness in his heart [20:29] I will not force you to stay if you wish to go [20:29] the decision must be yours [20:29] but please know this [20:29] I do love you and will always be true [20:29] You hold my heart in your hand [20:29] . [20:29] The maiden looked down at the heart upon her hand [20:29] and turned again to look at the tall man [20:29] Blue eyes met brown and then she knew [20:29] that what he spoke was the truth [20:29] . [20:29] together the stepped into the lake [20:29] where at last they embraced [20:29] surrounded by a magical glow [20:29] they flicked their tails and disappeared. [20:29] *end* wow :> another dragonmaid/mating story :> [20:31] * Snarlgard applauds, wonderful [20:31] !!!!!!!!!!!!!!BRAVO!!!!!!!!!!!!!! [20:31] * Solitaire looks breathless... "Wow...!" [20:45] Angst! Angst! [20:45] Tis time to nail my feet [20:45] To the Dusty Planks [20:45] of Doom! [20:45] Eternal gloom! [20:45] They cannot treat me.. ME!.. this way [20:45] I'll hurt them back, I'll make them pay [20:45] What should I say? [20:45] Say nothing? That's the way! [20:45] I'll take away my flashing wit [20:45] In gloom and anger silent sit [20:46] But what if no one catches it? [20:46] Oh no, [20:46] It can't be so, [20:46] What good's revenge if they don't know? [20:46] I need another way to go. [20:46] I'll hold my breath until I'm blue [20:46] Or maybe I'll just go and chew [20:46] On paste pots, eat paste 'til I've died [20:46] A kind of sticky suicide [20:46] Then they'll feel sorry, they'll feel crappy [20:46] When I am dead, and I'll be happy.. [20:46] Now wait, somehow that doesn't scan [20:46] *** OnyxDragon (mrx@170-155-182.ipt.aol.com) has joined #afd_poetry [20:46] I guess I need a better plan.
