While on the slopes above clouds rise and form; Then empty their laden buckets on the tree lined slopes below Leaving only wisps as they pass the peaks and fade. Where trees and grass and cloud tops meet A stream bursts forth from a dark mouthed cave - The Dragon's Lair Within he sleeps - Bright hues of gold and green, and azure. Flecked with crimson, ivory and steel. There too sleeps his treasures - Gems, gold, silver, carved treasures from the past. And amidst it all she dances - The flame haired and emerald eyed, The mistress of his heart. End Dragonheart * Gilraen applauds * Solitaire smiles. "Very nice!" Wow...*applauds* * Sev smiles and agree with Sol. * Shadow-Dancer applauds !!bravo!! !!Encore!! !!HBO!! oops! I would like to take a wealthy man, And for one day make him poor. Let him feel the weight of painful wants, Real hunger, numbing cold, The sting of others' scornful taunts. , I would like to take a bigot's skin, Regardless of race or creed. Expose to his eyes his inner parts. Show him the inner truth, All men are the same within our hearts. . I would like to do many such things, Not because I enjoy pain. But to see the world that might arise, If for only one day We could see the world through others' eyes. . end * Shadow-Dancer sneaks off-stage * Gilraen applauds * DH grabs S-D and hauls hiom back for his comments * Lady_Odetta applauds, short but not sweet...very good :) * Lord_Cobalt detects a message in there somewhere...hehe *applauds* good job SD :> why yourun each time? The storm outside raged on and on and I did not know who would win I heard the angry curses and shouts and the clashing of the swords The horses neighing in fright and the screams of men with no hope in sight I knew he had come for me As he had promised . It soon would be . Could it have been so many days ago that our enemies did conspire and take me away from the lands were I did live The enemy laird wished me for his own. not knowing I had already given myself to another . My thoughts turn to my brave love on the battlefield somewhere below I pray that he hears me with his heart please my love be thou safe as ye face this angry clan They do not understand That you are my husband. Tis their Laird who did bid them to take me away . We should not have kept our love a secret then we would not have come to this fight Clan against Clan . Lighting arched with dazzling sparks the battle field was then no longer dark Many fell beneath my loves might While I sat alone locked in fright not knowing how the fight goes. I hold a secret in my heart Our child and hope for the future now grows within my womb. . Outside the battle wages on and on When the cock crows of the approaching dawn Suddenly all is quiet the silence is deafening as I prepare to take a stand I know not which side has won . My heart is pounding in my breast Fear will not let it rest I raise my hands prepared to protect our lives. . As footsteps sound heavy in the hall. the door inches slowly open at first I do not recognize this fierce man bedecked in war kilt claymore in hand. his clear blue gaze meets mine in triumph Tis my love and husband come to claim me . I run into his embrace scattering kisses over my beloved's face meeting my lips with his own his searing kiss brings me home No longer will I have to fear I know now we will be together for many long years *end* * Lord_Cobalt applauds Bravo Gil!!! :> ok comments time * Lady_Odetta applauds...at least you didn't get kicked for flooding this time! ;) great poem Gil * Shadow-Dancer scrolls back..rereads..likes it even better in re-run * Gilraen giggles to true [20:15] *** Enfinity (thunderbol@s51.ranchnet.com) has joined #afd_poetry are you scottish Gilraen? partly My heart is Celtic:) * Sev grins. and up next - finally - is our old freind Solitaire with a poem he has been wrestling with for months * Solitaire takes a DEEP breath and walks to the stage... "Ok... This one did not have an ending until a few minutes ago... It's a big departure from what I like/want to write. lets welcome the result called I see before me I see before me... . I see before me a land Rich in gentle rolling hills The forests green and thick The grass waving in the breeze The streams flowing clear and sweet For numberless years I watched, The unchanging beauty of this land . I see before me a man Strong in arm and spirit With him he carries his axe His plow cuts deep and true With water he quenches his thirst For several long years I watched, As he worked to take his part of this land . I see before me a woman Wise in thought and deed With her she carries the wood Her knife prepares the food at hand With water she washes the clothes For several long years I watched, As she worked to make her home in this land . I see before me a child Sleep in ignorance and bliss With her she carries the future Her fingers clutch at nearby warmth With tears she makes her needs known For several long years I watched, As she grew to take her place in the land . I see before me a village Homes together close and sheltered With neighbors comes protection The people barter together for food Water sweet comes from nearby wells For several long years I watched, As the inhabitants gathered and prospered . I see before me a town Bustling in growth and plans Woods fall to supply it's needs It's hunger puts use to the fields Water washes down unclean streets For several long years I watched, As it grew to cover the once rich land . I see before me a city Rumbling it's wealth and size Trees dot it's crowded streets The masses reach forth for nourishment Spoiled water from it's drainage's seeps For several long years I watched, As it consumed the once beautiful land . I see before me a man A woman A child The three together hold the hope of the world . I see before me the village The town The city Spiraling down while dreams are put to flight . How can this be? The promise so bright, become the bleakness of a cold winters night. Are our hopes going to come to naught, as our cluttered masses start to rot? . To the future we must now gaze, to prevent the terrible things that trouble our days. For the course of our journey is not etched in stone, And there still be time for our evils to atone. . If we but try... . end * Solitaire walks slowly away... * Solitaire cues DH for the -im * Sev blinks, smiles, and *hugs* his bro tightly... * Gilraen pounce huggles osl Sol I mean * Shadow-Dancer applauds the reluctant poet-dragon Awesome, sol. :) My my...moralistic poetry tonight! ;) *applauds* me grins Lots of predictions for the future tonight, would you not say? :) *applauds* I like the way you ened it Sol :> ended * Gilraen agrees with DH * Solitaire nods. "Well, I never liked this one. I decided to put something a little uplifting for the end. Better than the direction it was going. i like A wise decision, Sol :) :) sounds good Sol ok next on the list is a second poem from GreenRaven entitled Embrace The Embrace The sound of the winds embrace me The warmth of your sun warms me The sounds of your waters sooth me * The smell of you lands remind me The sounds of nature comfort me The sights of your landscape thrill me * For when my time comes I shall embrace thee As you have done for me End Nice! Very good :) short but strong and sweet Interesting. * Shadow-Dancer is looking forward to more from this person so do I Agreed. ok up next is Gilraen again with another untitled poem :> * DH calls Gil back to the stage The maiden and the dragon Can a maiden trust a dragon or must she live in terror and fear. It depends on the maiden and the secret she holds dear. . He steps lightly to the ground His long gold form circles round She is near wildflowers in hand Showing no fear nor surprise she nods once eloquently. . Her long hair unbound shines like gold in the light of the setting sun. She is beautiful and bold . Is she his lunch or just a snack Is he planning an attack the answer is not known at least not to us . She laughs once with delight and spins into a dance like a fairy sprite He sits and watches her awhile and stretches his length to relax She pauses in her dance approaching him with a knowing smile . He lowers his head near to hers and grins the sun sets and darkness fills the glade still they stand looking into each others eyes . As the moon rises slowly to the sky The meadow is filled with an unearthly light Her small form is enclosed in an mysterious glow cupping her hands she raises them to the night chanting , singing the ancient rite . her body blurs and fades away A dragon glowing gold in her place. Her eyes sparkling with delight she lifts her wings to the night . She calls once and he reply's as they take to the sky. two forms intertwined shadowed against the moon. They begin life anew. . end Is THAT why dragons request that they be given virgins! I get it now! ;) * Lady_Odetta applauds, grinning. * DH hadn't seen that one before but he loves it :> Beautiful, Gil! * Lord_Cobalt chuckles * Sev giggles, and applauds. * Shadow-Dancer applauds loudly * Gilraen grins I liked it...No matter what the request was. :) No offence, Gilraen...it's a beautiful poem :) * Gilraen grins * sevendust applauds up next is Shadow dancer with a poen called Invisible man Hello * Shadow-Dancer makes his way to the podium (again)... Invisible Man . hello.. I see you in your fancy suit, On your way to work, The man with the plan. But not for me I am the forgotten one, The invisible man. . I see you in your fancy church, Preach of love for all For that is God's plan. But not for me, I am the forgotten one, The invisible man. . I starve in the midst of plenty, I need so little, Just give what you can. Please, help me! I am the forgotton one, The invisible man. . Now I lay me down to sleep Among the buildings, tall and steep. If I die before I wake, Will I then an impression make? I am the forgotten one, The invisible man. . ---end--- * Shadow-Dancer , as usual, fades.. nicely done SD :> * DH says Aloha to cath- As I said, deep, moralistic poetry tonight.
