Siting in a bar watching as too-many tries to pick up good-looking and fails. . Fried clams and coffee to end a poor night wine, beer and song but no woman to fill it time to go home and try again tomorrow . Simon and Garfunkel - Nights in white satin Music tonight to wipe out the blues. . Life returns as the evening passes coffee and clams restore to good feeling three girls alone - and its raining outside. _______________________________________________ * Havoc_ applauds here too! I hear their iron heartbeat as they pass. I peer out through the misted window glass Where cold and heartless fog cuts out all sight. The monsters of the sea cry out their fears Their lonliness in blinded, darkened cold They howl of dangers ever new and old Of tragedies which echo through the years. And what they cry for even they can't know. So many drowned in darkness, lone, unknown. Each call contains the echo of a moan From ancient years, from ages long ago As if lost dinosaurs in cold fog died And even now, our hearts hear how they cried. --hands Mike back. --end * Heatherica applauds <^Ladyhwke> wow.... * Chant applauds that was very good Havoc * Trystell claps from the shadows * ^Ladyhwke applauds ......... A "raptor" writing about true raptors. Somehow it figures. "The Eagle by the Roadside -- Once driving in my car I chanced to see An Eagle by the roadside in a tree. A bird of beauty, strength, and hot fierce pride; I envied him for being brave and free. That night I fell into a happy dream For I had wings and talons. It did seem That I was now the Eagle, and he me; The sky ripped open with my joyous scream. And so on summer breezes free I flew But found I was not free. I had to do Those things that cold and hunger forced on me. I'm tired of cold and hunger. Tired, too, Of eating roadkill just to stay alive And watching cars pass, wishing I could drive. ---end * Heatherica applauds. * Chant applauds, that sure makes you think * Shadow-Dancer applauds !!!!!!!!!!! Surprise! (snicker...) * ^Ladyhwke applauds... wow... It's good to see something that insightful. :) I really did see that bird. Then after a while I started to wonder. On Wednesday, September 4, I entered #afd in the middle of a discussion regarding non-dragons in #afd. Quoth one fellow, "look you all the only thing stopping us of keeping this dragon realm only for dragons is the operators you can kick the ones who arent dragons and we will always be for dragons ..... always" I can understand this view . . .. If ops do not take care for the tone of the channel, it ceases to be a pleasant place. I'm also probably over-reacting . . .. Okay; I'm definitely over-reacting (I tend to do that) but . . . I don't think I'm the only one who was upset by the proposal. * This is the realm of dragons; I Dispute it not at all But some others feel welcome, too I was one, if you recall * Today, though, some made motion To keep non-dragons out Because some stupid greggils Channel conventions flout * Do you know what it means to me To have this place to lurk? Although I'm not be very involved, And interaction shirk * #afd is a safe place I speak now and again To hear that I'm not welcome Cannot come without pain * I am not a dragon, but I love this channel, too . . . I may not have the right to say I'm human . . . and I'm new. * Some humans see beyond this world The Truth beyond the veil And like the dragons, some of us Have sought a better trail. * Just . . . please don't act in anger, Because some don't understand Though human, I suspect we do Don't drive us from your land. * c September 4, 1996 -- H. Wegemer * Heatherica dives back into her shadow and proceeds with her lurking. * Chant applauds loudly, Bravo Heatherica Bravo!!!!! * `angel applauds * Havoc_ applauds, although not being a dragon either, perhaps shouldn't. :) * Dragonheart pulls heatherica out of the shadows for a quick bow - a very good poem and a point that needed to be made - may I borrow it for future such discussions lady? * Heatherica nods and gets back to the safety of her shadow. * Shavaylah smiles at the shadow cloaked Heatherica and applauds * ^Ladyhwke smiles... not beng a dragon..:> tis a good poem... our next poem is a short one by LadyHawke * ^Ladyhwke nervously looks at DH..:> in the rush to get set up I grabbed a quick title for it so don't blame her for the that title as before due to technical dificulties our reader will work from a scroll for this * Dragonheart hands MArk a scroll Eyes, Watching eyes, watching me carefully, indecipherably heart, soul and mind weaving a nervous dance thoughts, deep, unsettling, hopeful yet unspoken dreams, longing to break the realms of consciousness reality, where dreams are painfully, desperately clung to in the hope they might one day be end * MArk hands the scroll over to Ladyhawke * SoulCough is snapping fingers...both hands. * Havoc_ applauds and rereads. * Chant claps, very good LadyHwke <`angel> *applause* that's great!! :) * ^Ladyhwke takes the scroll and nervously flutter up to the rafters... * Heatherica applauds BRAVO!!! In case anyone's keeping score this is another sonnet. Today -- -- The summer soon will end. So stop and see The waves lap softly on the big lake's shore. Come rest from trouble. Stay a while with me. For once let's live today and nothing more. Let's watch the silver seagulls as they soar And let the time flow gently, as we wish. Let silent friendship soak us to the core Or listen to our neighbor speak of fish. Let's listen to the rustle of the leaves That now have started turning, soon will fall. Let's walk a flowered path among the trees And think about the future... not at all. Don't think what others-- our ourselves!-- might say. For once, let's live today just for today. ---end * Heatherica applauds * SmokeWing is tending towards a favorite, now.. <`angel> hmmm, very very nice, havoc... love the imagery :) * ^Ladyhwke smiles and applauds * Chant smiles and claps very good Bravo!!!! And why should lovers care? You open up your heart, you risk great pain And yet to each it blesses it is gain, Or make you famous, make you less a fool; For learning, better far to stay in school, For safety, better hide within yourself And yet, a loveless life is living death And loveless wealth is cold and useless trash ANd loveless knowledge dry and dusty trash And loveless poetry a waste of breath.
