[DH] When culture died [DH] and learning faded [DH] Man smiled and Renaissance. [DH] Twenty years away from home [DH] with crew and fortune gone [DH] Odysseus smiles [DH] and all regains. [DH] When the world seems mad [DH] and choices absent [DH] Smile [DH] the best is yet to come. [DH] end [DH] and welcome to cut and paste scroll :> * Silvermist smiles.."Tis good." < Eredien > me claps "That's good." * Eredien groans * Havoc_TR pieces it together in his head and applauds. :) < Eternal_Chaos > *smiles* * Eredien can't seem to get the hang of the IRC or MUCK commands lately. :-) [DH] its ok hun * Eredien grins < Silvermist > Eo! *Huggles* < Eredien > Hi Eo! [DH] ok up next is another of our "old reliable" poets :> HTR with a new poem called Autumn Gold * DH calls HTR up to read :> * Havoc_TR trots up, a little sheepishly. This one is Not A Sonnet. :) < Havoc_TR > Autumn Gold < Havoc_TR > Summer is a treasure < Havoc_TR > A pouch of shining golden days < Havoc_TR > Unnumbered, squandered carelessly < Havoc_TR > Because there are so many < Havoc_TR > Unnumbered too because their number < Havoc_TR > Can't be known. < Havoc_TR > But how much more precious < Havoc_TR > Is the mellow autumn gold < Havoc_TR > As you reach into the bag of golden days < Havoc_TR > And beg the Gods for just one more. < Havoc_TR > end < Silvermist > Havoc, I liked that. *smile* < Silvermist > Salutations Zara. *huggles* < Havoc_TR > Thank you. :) * Dragondazd like both, oops, sorry dh < Zaraneth > heyla Mist. :) * Eredien grins. Wow, now I have words to tell why fall is my favorite season. *BG* [DH] beautiful HTR I like that one and agree with it :> even if I am the summer dragon :> < Draygus > Oooo.. I like that Havoc :> * Eodrakken wishes e had a poem tonight. That was a pretty one, Havoc. :) < Havoc_TR > Me too, DH.. if I weren't, I wouldn't have that famous Melancholy when fall comes. :) [DH] yeah [DH] ok our next poetess is silvermist ( as if you couldn't tell from the +V) [DH] and her poem called A soul's Wisdom * Silvermist smiles and glances down at her paper... *** Mode change [+mi] on channel #AFD_Poetry by DH * DH calls Silvermist to the stage :> < Silvermist > This one is called "A soul's wisdom" < Silvermist > Each of us has a path to tread. < Silvermist > Each a special goal. < Silvermist > And we must follow where tis lead. < Silvermist > Each in our own chosen role.. < Silvermist > The heart is foolish when it seeks < Silvermist > To be another besides... < Silvermist > We must listen when spirit speaks < Silvermist > And follow where it guides. < Silvermist > The wisdom that lies within us all < Silvermist > Tis truth unto each one < Silvermist > We must follow down our own halls < Silvermist > Till all is said and done. < Silvermist > End.. [DH] yes we must but not alone in most cases :> * Dragondazd grins at her shadow * Havoc_TR nods and applauds.. true! And true also, DH. :) * Silvermist smiles... * Zaraneth applauds < Eodrakken > wise words, silvermist. too many try to follow someone else's path. * Eredien claps and smiles < Silvermist > That's been on my mind a lot of late. *soft smile* [DH] or try to force others to follow the paths we want them to * DanDragohn wishes his path would show a sign of going somewhere... brings up some thought < Eodrakken > Unfortunately, yes, DH. < Draygus > Awww... That was great Aunt Silver :> * Silvermist blushes slightly. [DH] life has a way of handling all of that tho :> as the next poem describes :> [DH] and if anyone has a poem they would like to share msg me and I'll get you into the program :> [DH] the next poem is another of my old ones [DH] called simply My Structure [DH] MY STRUCTURE [DH] I lie recumbent - [DH] there is no fault in that. [DH] I was folding things [DH] when I reclined and knapped. [DH] I have my faults - [DH] some seen clear as thru a window; [DH] while others are thrust under [DH] and a klippe must be used to see them. [DH] For now I will not change - [DH] Although - [DH] I have been metamorphosed [DH] many times to reach this grade. [DH] I remain a nonconformist - [DH] for while the stress is great, [DH] the strain is small. [DH] end * Silvermist smiles, "Very nice." * Draygus nods.... I can confer in that DH.... * Zaraneth grins. That was good. *applause* < Silvermist > It seems several of our poems are along the same theme tonight. [DH] that always seems to happen a lot for some reason :> < Dragondazd > d-; * Havoc_TR applauds and thinks.. should he mention, say, poetry slumps? Probably not. < Eternal_Chaos > An unintentional theme night? ;) * Havoc_TR grins.. wishing he'd thought of all the puns. < Eredien > I like that - but what's a "klippe?" < Silvermist > Salutations Shadow-Dancer. < Eodrakken > bonsoir Shadow! < Shadow-Dancer > Greetings < Eredien > Hi Shadow-Dancer < Shadow-Dancer > Heyla, Eodrakken :) [DH] ahhh a klippe is a German term for a "hole" a place where the over lying sediments or rocks have been removed so you can see what is underneath - like you had used a clipper to remove them - and its pronounced the same way :> [DH] aloha S_D :> < Dragondazd > hiyas SD < Eredien > Oh! That's neat. :) [DH] yeah :> < Shadow-Dancer > Aloha, Dragonheart..'Dazd [DH] I wrote that one back in college - my structural geology prof used to put bad poems on the quizzes and tests - so I wrote that on the back of the final :> [DH] and he liked it so much he gave me extra credit for it :> < Havoc_TR > Shear genius! * Dragondazd snickers * Eodrakken groans. :) * DanDragohn remembers that for finals coming up... * Silvermist chuckles. < Draygus > WoWa... Congrats there DH :> * Dragondazd hopes dle takes her to dinner soon, HUNGRY DRAGONESS ALERT! [DH] I managed to use all the major terns correctly :> * Eodrakken blinks and pictures small sea birds. "Major terns?" * Eredien snickers. "Have a gneiss day?" [DH] ok Havoc your up again :> < Havoc_TR > OK. [DH] ere - I take having a gneiss day for granite < Havoc_TR > After a poem about structural geology, hows about a poem about a rock? :) [DH] ok < Havoc_TR > Karol's Rock < Havoc_TR > There is a great grey rock < Havoc_TR > My mind finds shelter on < Havoc_TR > Far away from this paper-cluttered desk. < Havoc_TR > Cool and gray, black weather stains < Havoc_TR > Green and blue-gray lichen < Havoc_TR > The angled plates of dolomite < Havoc_TR > Slant down into the water < Havoc_TR > Split and shifted, each from next < Havoc_TR > By rain and twisting fingers of the ice < Havoc_TR > That soon will come again. < Havoc_TR > The clear cold water laps the rock < Havoc_TR > And chuckles kindly. Breezes kiss < Havoc_TR > The cedars and the leafless birch < Havoc_TR > With almost silent feather touch < Havoc_TR > Far out, a freighter slowly crawls from sight < Havoc_TR > While golden light of setting sun < Havoc_TR > Comes, scattered sunbeams, through the trees < Havoc_TR > A light cast from behind. < Havoc_TR > end < Dragondazd > cool < Dragondazd > was gonna say another crack on granite and it'll be a gravelly mistake d-; * DanDragohn is pretty sure he's seen that rock }:=8} * Silvermist blinks..."Interesting." [DH] I like :> [DH] sounds like a great rock :> < Draygus > That was great Havoc :> * Silvermist chuckles. * Eredien claps wildly - reminds me of mountain climbing. * Zaraneth applauds! * Shadow-Dancer applauds < Havoc_TR > Thank you. It is a great rock. Some places just make you peaceful and thoughtful, no matter how hard you try not to be. :) < Dragondazd > ohh... < Dragondazd > I had a friend that sat on a rock for hours < Dragondazd > it was on this trail and he sat there til ppl went up and came back. [DH] I know some rocks I could (and have) sit on for hours :> < Draygus > I know how that is Havoc.. I once had a place like that... * Silvermist knows of several she's used like that too... * Shadow-Dancer settles for humming "Rock of Ages" < Havoc_TR > And here I was, finding refuge in that place, and I wasn't even there. Strange. :) [DH] I think we all have a place or two like that :> * Eredien thinks that's not strange, that keeps me sane (of course sane is a relative term) [DH] ok its time for the last poem of the short evening :< [DH] another of my old ones and another with a story [DH] but I'll saver the story for after if anyone is still interested after the poem :> < Draygus > Yea.... But when you loose a place like that.... No matter how hard you try... You can never replace it :> [DH] and this one is also about a rock - sort of :> [DH] this one is called Watermelon Tourmaline * Zaraneth looses a place on Dray... [DH] WATERMELON TOURMALINE [DH] A kiss is like - [DH] A sudden splash of sun [DH] thru a watermelon tourmaline. [DH] Tasting of the sun-drenched [DH] fresh-sweet colors [DH] and [DH] feeling of the sharp-edged front [DH] and smooth-rough sides. [DH] With wine rich colors- [DH] deeper than the tongue can reach. [DH] . [DH] A kiss is like - [DH] a watermelon tourmaline [DH] with a strong colorful rind [DH] protecting the deep-sweet richness within [DH] and [DH] with its many facets [DH] each reflecting their subtle gleamings [DH] like a love made jewel. [DH] end * Havoc_TR applauds. :) < Eternal_Chaos > ;) * Eodrakken grins. "Romantic. Now I want to hear the story." :} < Dragondazd > heh * Silvermist smiles..."Very touching." < Draygus > I like that... That's neat DH :> * Shadow-Dancer applauds! * Eternal_Chaos applauds the whole evening, since he tends to watch quietly for the most part. * Zaraneth applauds! again. ^_^ * Eredien grins. What a neat poem! < Dragondazd > what's a tourmaline? < Silvermist > Dazd..A tourmaline is a beautiful stone...And a watermelon tourmaline is red and green version. [DH] its triangular gemstone - normally green but it can be any color [DH] a watermelon type gets it name because it is red in the middle and green on the rim :> [DH] now anyone want the story behind it? [DH] its not what you think < Shadow-Dancer > Dare I ask how such a thing comes to be? * Silvermist does... < Shadow-Dancer > And yes, I, for one, would like to hear the story.... [DH] the poem or the stone SD? * Eodrakken does. < Zaraneth > I wanna hear a story! *bounce* ^_^ < Shadow-Dancer > Both, Dragonheart... < Eredien > Storytime! < Shadow-Dancer > :) [DH] ok story first :> * Silvermist curls up and smiles... [DH] even if it is prosaic :> [DH] I was in a poetry writing class in college < Havoc_TR > We've had the poetry, so a little prosey isn't out of line. :) [DH] and the instructor had us write down a favorite object on a sheet of paper and turn it in [DH] then she gave us the assignment - write a poem about our object in which the first line was: A kiss like a ... [DH] and there I was having turned in this stone for the object :> * Silvermist chuckles. * Havoc_TR laughs. * Shadow-Dancer *chokes* * Eodrakken grins. < Havoc_TR > I am certainly glad I wasn't in that class. I'm a collector, and I probably would have named.. the American Eagle P-08 Luger. < Shadow-Dancer > Somebody call 1822!!!! [DH] and 45 minutes of time to try to write a poem in :> * Silvermist chuckles. * Eredien chortles * Dragondazd would have glued the rock to the paper < Eternal_Chaos > Could've been worse, depending on the object. ;P < Dragondazd > and written. a kiss is like about and below it says it all [DH] it was for some of the class [DH] but there were a lot of good poems out of that class :> * Shadow-Dancer hates to think what he might have gotten himself into [DH] ok and with that we will end this poetry reading * Eodrakken probably would have been stuck for a favorite object! < Eredien > Thanks everyone, it was fun! < Silvermist > So would I... [DH] we will be back again next Saturday evening at the same time and place :> I hope to see you there
